Broadway Nails ImPRESS Press-on Manicure Review ♡

Hi lovelies! Sorry I am terrible at updating this blog, but here is another Voxbox/review type post. c:

I received a Voxbox a couple weeks back from Influenster called the ImPress Manicure Voxbox that came with two packages of ImPress press on nails for me to try. This post will consist of my take on them! Please remember that these items were sent to be via Influenster for free strictly for testing and reviewing purposes.

I received two colours. One in the colour Joyride, a solid shiny magenta and the other in the pattern Working Girl, a black and silver glitter crackle. Both styles are seen above!

The concept with these is pretty great as there is no glue involved in their application. In total, there is 24 press on nails that comes in a kit. All you do is line up the nails that fit with your natural nails, then peel the backing off of the nail, fit it onto your nail, and press down and hold, then ta-da! The press on nail stays on. :3

There is some pros and cons to these nails, and I will go through them below.

PROS
  • These are the easiest press on nails to apply, ever.
  •  When it's time for the nails to come off (or whenever you want to take them off) they don't damage your natural nail beneath them. I know sometimes nails with glue can do this.
  • These are IDEAL for any special occasion you might have to go to. They are also cheaper than getting a manicure!
  • If one nail happens to come off there is plenty of extras to apply. (So, I suggest carrying the extras around in the bottle wherever you may be going... like I've been doing :p)

CONS
  • The press on nail sizes will not fit everyone. I found that some of my nails were too wide for any of the different press on nail sizes. This isn't too drastic or troublesome though. BUT ImPress nails come in a variety of sizes, I was just sent one's that were not a complete fit for my nails, so perhaps another size would work perfectly.
  • When running my fingers through my hair, some of my hair strands get caught on the bottom of the nail (near the cuticle) which is annoying...
  • The press on nails can last up to a week, but when I first tried them on, my first nail fell off the day after.
  • If you have long nails, your natural nail can be seen beneath the press on nail (noticeable in some of the above pictures).
I've enjoyed wearing these press on nails because it's let me grow out my natural nail beneath them without breaking or chipping them before they get to the length I want. Also, it's a nice change from wearing polish because these can't chip and although a nail may fall off sometimes there is extra press on nails that can easily be put on in their place. I'd recommend trying these, especially like I mentioned before, if you're attending any special occasions!

Thanks Influenster!

With hugs,
Jessica

MysteryBrand VoxBox Revealed! ♡

Hey lovelies!

If you've read my previous blog post you'd see I was sent some lovely mystery (oooooh) products for review in the Influenster MysteryBrand VoxBox. Well now the products have been revealed! And they are L'oreal's new....Garnier Frucus Damage Eraser Products! (I guessed it was Garnier, yay!)

This reveal box contained four full sized products: a shampoo, a conditioner, a strength reconstructing butter, and a split-end treatment.

I've been using all of these products for around a week and a bit approximately (except for the reconstructing butter which I've only used once) and I'm still loving them!

My only concern and negative comment is about the reconstructing butter. The fact that it's in a twistable cap jar type container is a little inconvenient. It'd be much easier to use if it was in a pump bottle or squeeze bottle. I suggest taking a bath when using the product too because the directions say to leave it in for 3-5 minutes. I'm not sure about anyone else but I find it difficult to keep my head out of the shower stream when I take a shower, so a lot of a product always rinses out so I think taking a bath when you use it would be best!

As I previously mentioned in the post before is the scent of these products is lovely and leaves your hair smelling so good! I'm still so pleased with these products. As for now, it's still too early to tell how much repair these products can do to my hair, but they feel like they will do the job. My hair already feels a lot healthier and much softer than it has before I started using these products~

Thanks for reading!

With hugs,
Jessica

Note: These products were sent to me by Influenster for testing purposes!

Influenster MysteryBrand VoxBox ♡

Hello again, lovelies!

Sorry that I haven't been active on blogspot lately. Things are getting hectic with school work and classes and such... but I also don't really know what to blog about. However, I've been ordering quite a few products online that I can review on here! Also if you head on over to my Tumblr, I have recently been reviewing some sponsored cosmetic items, just click the "reviews" link in the navigation dropdown menu. ^^

Anyways, I received another VoxBox today!

Each VoxBox has it's own theme, and depending on which badges you've earned you may be eligible for a VoxBox that caters to your badges! VoxBoxes contain products from various companies that you can try out, review, and then share your opinions with your social media outlets! Not to mention, signing up at Influenster is 100% FREE! To note, it is also not guaranteed you'll receive a certain box. But, the more active you are on Influenster, the more of a chance you get to receive a VoxBox.

This particular VoxBox is different from the other boxes because the products are a mystery. All the samples are one of L'oreal's brands and for a week I am able to test out the sample sizes and after that time is up another box will be sent out revealing the products in their full sizes! How cool, huh?!

So this box contains three samples, which include a shampoo, a conditioner, and a split-end serum which I received the samples complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All products have the same smell which to me kind of smells banana-y with a hint of something tropical. I know that sort of sounds off-putting but the combination actually works together. I may actually be completely wrong in guessing the scent... so don't take my word for it.

I've tried all of the products once and I have to say I'm already impressed. Both the shampoo and conditioner smell even better when applied in the shower; it's like the moisture gives them an extra level of scent which was pleasant. You know how when you condition your hair and then rinse of the conditioner your hair feels so slippery smooth? Well that is the feeling I got after using the shampoo. Then, when I used the conditioner my hair felt extra extra slippery smooth. I thought that was really neat.

After my shower I towel dried my hair and then applied the split-end serum which is how it is supposed to be used. I noticed that after applying the serum my hands didn't feel oily or greasy... which is a good thing. I hate applying products that make my hands feel oily, not to mention make your hair oily too.

Overall, I am completely surprised and happy with these products right now. My hair feels and smells amazing already. I can't wait for the brand of these products to be revealed!!! (I'm honestly thinking it might be a part of a Garnier line coming out...) I will definitely make a post showing which brand it actually ends up being!

Thanks for reading!

With hugs,
Jessica

Christmas (& Boxing Day) Haul ♡

Hello everyone!

I hope everybody had a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year! This post is a little late but I've just found the motivation to make it. I apologize in advance for the not-so-good-quality photos as I took them during the night time with an oddly coloured light so they're kind of all over the place.

Below are just some of the goodies I received from family for Christmas, and some items I purchased myself at various sales. I am honestly so grateful for every gift that was given to me.

On the left were the things I recieved as presents (excluding the Hello Kitty tights which I purchased myself on the F21 website on Boxing Day and the Hello Kitty stickers that I bought from the dollar store the other day :p).

All of the presents were from my Mom and her husband which consisted of: a pink fluffy blanket (it's so so so soft), a hello kitty pajama set, hello kitty socks, a new winter coat, EOS lip balm in the flavour (scent?) strawberry, almond hand cream from The Body Shop, hello kitty Tupperware lunch and bag set, and boots that aren't pictured.
On the right of the photo is some things I bought at a boxing day sale! I got everything for $20. The dork sweatshirt was $12, while everything else was only $2 except for the shirt with the girl on it which was only $1! What a bargain.

Here's just a closer look at the Tupperware set and stickers.

Then lastly, I bought these earrings for myself after Christmas. The bow earrings are obviously from Forever 21 and the neat blue earrings are from Suzy Shier. ^-^

So there you have it; a quick post of what I received for Christmas and some Boxing Day deals.

If you celebrated, what did you get for Christmas? I'd love to hear!

    Petite Dollar Store Haul ♡

    Hello lovelies!

Since I'm a student and basically survive off a student loan I don't like spending too much on items, so I really love when the dollar stores around me have cute items for a cheap price. It seems that the dollar stores near me are getting better and better every time I visit them and I never feel guilty when I buy things from there because everything is only between $1-$3, right?! The dollar store I mainly go to is called Dollarama and if you live in Canada you've most likely visited one before. Here's just a little post on what I picked up yesterday when I did a little shopping with a friend.

Firstly, I picked up this Sally Hanson nail polish for $2. The dollar store I went to had so many name brand polishes such as OPI, Nicole by OPI, Loreal, Revlon, and Sally Hanson (duh); probably all discontinued colours that they're trying to get rid of. A couple weeks ago I snagged an OPI colour from their 2011 Muppets Christmas collection called "Excuse Moi" that's a very pretty pink glitter polish for only $3! This colour is called "First Kiss" and it is a peachy pink colour. I swatched a bit of this on some paper and the formula seems really good. It'll probably take only 1-2 coats to be completely opaque.

When I saw this I immediately had to grab it. I'm automatically attracted to anything that has Hello Kitty on it so it's hard for me to resist. It's a cute Christmas ornament filled with little candies and it was only $2! I wish my Christmas tree would stop falling over so I could actually decorate it and add this ornament to it, grrr.

I picked up this pack of pastel cotton thread seen on the left too because I've been wanting to make some cute bracelets! I haven't been motivated yet to do so but I'll probably create a post on my Tumblr when I do to show you guys if I create anything interesting. For 24 pieces (two of each colour) it was only $3. Then my Hello Kitty radar went off when I saw the neat little bundle on the right. It's filled with 25 stickers and 25 temporary tattoos, some being with glitter. It was only $2 so I decided to get it too. See below for what's included!

So that's it for my first mini haul! ^-^ I think I like writing these types of posts. If you like them too please comment here, or even on my Tumblr. I'd also love to know what you guys would like to see more of too!

    With hugs,
    Jessica
